Sometimes you just need an outfit that will take you from A to B and everything in between, an outfit that sums you up. For me it’s usually something relaxed and stylish that makes me feel good. I’m a sucker for stripes and jeans, I feel confident in them but they don’t always fit the bill for work, however, add a few carefully chosen accessories and you elevate this go-to outfit into something different altogether.
My bag from Ilex London has been my best friend on days when I had meetings, its classic shape adds an element of sophistication to my otherwise (favourite) casual outfit. It is beautifully made with great attention to detail and the quality of the leather is excellent. The size is good too, I can fit my (small) laptop inside along with all my other handbag essentials. Mint green isn’t an obvious choice where accessories are concerned but it works really well in these early days of autumn, I like how it lifts the whole outfit.
I love to style this bag, well in fact, the whole outfit with a trench coat. I took the plunge a couple of years ago and invested in one from Hobbs. I can’t say that I wear it all the time but it will be there for me for pretty much the rest of my life – it makes good fashion sense, non?
Now for the shoes, I have recently given into granny shoes, a trend which I resisted initially (read about it here) but I finally have to concede that they are chic and comfortable thanks to the block heel (clever grannies). What can I say? Some trends are just a bit of a slow burner.
