An injection of colour or the introduction of a cheeky print will help you make the transition out of winter layers and into spring. Floral prints are a strong look this season and I’m thrilled about it – I spent a lot of my early 20s in florals and DMs – but there’s a lot of gingham about too. One of my favourite pieces is this shirt from Studio by Preen at Debenhams and this skirt also from Studio by Preen, Dorothy Gale eat you heart out!
It was while I was daydreaming about Preen and bright spring days that I stumbled upon this simple gingham top on the high street. The monochrome colourway makes this whimsical print look grown up and the ruffles keep the look feminine.
Gingham is by nature very casual but you could easily dress this up with this lovely leather skirt or these palazzo pants. I’d love to wear this top with a pair of red ankle boots like the ones worn here by The Frugality, hers are from Next and sadly sold out online but there’s a good chance of finding them in store. The red ankle boots may be a blogger cliché but I don’t care, this is a winning combination!
The high street has a decent selection of gingham pieces but Zara as always do it very well. I featured a lovely gingham shirt with floral embroidery in this post a few weeks ago and it’s a great buy!
How about you? Are you wearing any gingham?
